Increasingly hard to find, this antique ironstone square butter slab which was used in the early 20th century for keeping produce cold in grocers stores, is in super condition. We believe it has undertaken minor professional restoration previously (but cannot see where). Its a large slab measuring 35cm square , has cut out handles either side for easy handling, and has the S. BANFIELD (Sussex) stamp to the underside. A really lovely example.
